how bad is it?

"Everyone" says that women are under represented in the fields of science, math and engineering. How bad is it?

Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities in Science and Engineering is a report that provides information about the participation of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in science and engineering education and employment.

Bachelor's degrees awarded in engineering, by sex, race/ethnicity, and citizenship: 1990–2007
  • Women 15-21% 21% in 2000 and 2002; 15% in 1990; 19% in 2007
  • Foreign nationals 7-8%
There are dozens of reports available at this site. Suffice to say that women do not make up a significant portion of the population of students or professionals in the field of engineering.
